update
Just gave the site some love... upgraded to the newest Chyrp git, hacked away at a new theme, and changed all my markup from Textile to Markdown. Things are cleaner this time around and should be easier for me to manage.
Figure I might as well post a sort of outline of what I'm working on, in the order I'm attacking them:
- OpenGL ES2.0 friendly UI library
- TCP helper library
- Social experiment blocky game thing
- Music integration library
- Music inspired SHMUP
I'm currently stuck on the UI library which is a huge pain. Making progress though, and will probably pause development on it when I have the bare minimum of what I need for my next project.
No return now
While I was on vacation in Kansas City I stopped by Irezumi's tattoo parlor and had this inked on my wrist, which I've been wanting for a while:

If you can't tell, its an ethernet port. Now I can connect to the net even when I don't have my laptop!
As one of my friends told me, I have made an irreversible step into ultra-nerd. I'm okay with this.
LD14 post-mortem
LD14 entry :

LD14 was a freakin blast! It is my first LD and definitely not my last. 48 hours isn't as short as it sounds... I had time to complete my entry, and had plenty of time to eat/sleep/shower/run errands without feeling particularly stressed. You still have to be pretty one-track minded... fortunately, the subconscious is pretty good at working out problems even if you aren't actively thinking about them.
I think what helped me through the weekend was having a solid idea in my mind of what I wanted. I spent maybe 6 hours after the theme was announced sitting, walking, biking, and thinking of a good concept. This is definitely not wasted time. Without a solid idea you will just spin your wheels and end up frustrated and without something to submit. Also, if you haven't invested in a whiteboard I highly suggest it! Being able to map out all my objectives helped me keep focus, and marking them off the list boosts morale.
My entry is here, and you can read my blog updates during the compo here
One of the LD traditions is to record a timelapse of your weekend. This is a great idea, and a neat way to watch a concept evolve. I particularly like watching how the game grows from one red cube on the screen to the final product. Also, I talk on IM waay too much ;)

preparing for Ludum Dare
Woot! This'll be my first time attempting the Ludum Dare contest. 48 hours to complete a game... a little more brutal than the 7drl :) I dusted off my framework and have a blank project prepared. Can't wait to see what the theme is...
7drl - day nine
FINALLY tracked down the (hopefully) last game-breaking segfault. I actually beat the game with this version :)
